Worked Formula

  1. Step 1E_req = (E_daily × days) ÷ η_invE_req = (3,000 Wh × 2) ÷ 0.90E_req = 6,667 Wh
  2. Step 2E_bank = (E_req ÷ DoD) × k_tempE_bank = (6,667 ÷ 0.85) × 0.90E_bank = 7,059 Wh
  3. Step 3Ah_bank = E_bank ÷ V_sysAh_bank = 7,059 ÷ 24Ah_bank = 294 Ah
  4. Step 4I_max = (P_cont ÷ V_sys) × η_inv × 1.25I_max = (2,000 ÷ 24) × 0.90 × 1.25I_max = 93.8 A

Battery bank sizing follows the energy-balance method in NEC Article 690 and the Sandia / NREL off-grid design guidance: required energy is the daily load over the autonomy window divided by inverter efficiency, and the nameplate bank energy is that figure divided by depth of discharge and multiplied by the temperature derating factor.
